Natural Resources Protection

Natural Resources Protection

Protection of the environment encompasses:

  • air emissions
  • water use
  • power use
  • impact physical factors (noise)
  • waste and byproducts

Fundamental priorities in terms of environmental protection are the following:

  • preservation of favorable environment and biodiversity;
  • introduction of best available technologies in enterprises;
  • involvement of all staff members in the process of increasing the level of environmental protection;
  • transparency and availability of environmental information of the entities, efficient public outreach by executives and specialists;
  • compliance with requirements of national and international environmental laws and regulations.

Ensuring that all the production sites supplying goods to SODRU have implemented an environmental management system based upon ISO 14001 requirements.

Water saving

The plants supplying goods to SODRU are equipped with state-of-the-art waste-water treatment facilities, which at the final stage of treatment are fitted with ultrafiltration membranes. This allows increasing water return in the water recirculation system and the reduction of waste-water discharge. In addition, a wastewater quality control program is in place at production sites.

Impact on the atmosphere

Production sites supplying goods to SODRU have their major air emission sources equipped with gas-purifying and dust-trapping units. Quantitative indicators of air emissions from crushing facilities meet  established best practice.

Power saving and reduction of fossil fuels consumption

Production sites supplying goods to SODRU  have an energy management system implemented, its purpose being the reduction of energy consumption and lowering of greenhouse gas emissions. Regular internal audits in ensuring  compliance with the management systems for environmental sustainability of GHG emissions control, ISCC EU, ISCC Plus, constantly show high results in reduction of GHG emissions.

Waste recycling and byproducts

All byproducts obtained in the production of vegetable oils are widely used in various segments of industry and consumption, which allows for the minimizing of the amount of waste produced. SODRU constantly works with its suppliers in increasing the amount of waste being recycled.

With our policies and practices, we address the following Sustainable development goals;
